Anti-Static Filter Elements
Protect Your Equipment From Harmful Varnish Deposits
Modern, ash- and zinc-free oils have very low electrical conductivity, making hydraulic and lubricating systems vulnerable to electrostatic discharge (ESD) as the oil passes through filter elements.
If not dissipated, the ESD can cause high-voltage sparks from the filter media to its support tube. These spark, in turn, can create:
- Varnish deposits and oil degradation
- Potential damage to electronics
- Damage to valves and other equipment
- Damage to the filter media
- The potential for explosions
Problems caused by varnish deposits are familiar to process engineers:
- Shorter lubricant or hydraulic life
- Filter clogging
- Overheated solenoids
- Seized valve spools
IFTDischarge™ Anti-Static Filter Elements Dissipate ESD
IFTDischarge™ advanced filter media dissipates triboelectric charges that fluids can generate as they pass through filter elements. Exclusive filter media discharge technology insures a very low charge — mitigating discharge sparking — even over long periods of time.
All IFTGLASS™ micro-fiberglass filter elements are available with IFTDischarge media technology. These anti-static filter elements are used in numerous industrial applications that use low-conductivity oils, including:
- Power Generation: gas turbines, power plants, etc.
- Mobile Hydraulics
- Plastic Injection Molding Machines
- Pulp and Paper Machinery
